Location in Maui County and the state of Hawaii Location in Maui County and the state of Hawaii Makawao is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawaii, United States.
According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the CDP has a total region of 3.5 square miles (9.0 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 6,327 citizens , 2,151 homeholds, and 1,565 families residing in the CDP.
There were 2,151 homeholds out of which 41.4% had kids under the age of 18 living with them, 51.7% were married couples living together, 14.8% had a female homeholder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families.
In the CDP the populace was spread out with 29.6% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 32.0% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 7.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a homehold in the CDP was $46,681, and the median income for a family was $50,145.
